Personalizing Your Listening Experience: AirPods Pro's Hearing Aid Function for Audio Work

In this video, I share my surprising experience using Apple AirPods Pro 2 as FDA-approved hearing aids for music production. As a technology educator and headphone enthusiast, I've found that these devices offer unique benefits beyond their popularity and head-tracking capabilities. After discovering my own mild hearing loss - a combination of age-related changes and a "cookie bite" pattern in the mid-range - I began exploring how the AirPods' hearing aid functionality could enhance my audio work.

I demonstrate how to set up and use this feature through iPhone settings and explain why it might be valuable even for those without significant hearing loss. While AirPods Pro aren't ideal for professional mastering work, their ability to correct individual hearing profiles can outweigh their frequency response limitations for many audio tasks. The key insight is that hearing isn't constant for anyone, and these devices can help achieve a more neutral listening experience by evening out our natural hearing variations.
