Mastering Atmos Objects: The Smartphone Technique You Need to Know

In this video, I demonstrate how to use Sound Particles Space Controller to pan Dolby Atmos objects in Pro Tools using a smartphone as a pointer. This unique workflow allows for intuitive, three-dimensional positioning of audio objects, potentially saving time and hassle in your Atmos mixing process. I walk you through the setup process, including how to connect the smartphone app to the plugin, and show you how to record automation using this method.

However, there are some limitations to this workflow in Pro Tools that require a workaround. I explain how to create a duplicate track, record the automation using Space Controller, and then copy that automation to the actual Atmos object track. While this method isn't perfect, it offers an interesting alternative to traditional Atmos panning techniques. Whether you're an experienced Atmos mixer or just getting started, this video will give you some new ideas to consider for your workflow. Don't forget to try out the 30-day trial of Space Controller to see if it fits your needs!
