Finally! A New Approach to Dolby Atmos Mastering

In this video, we explore the newly released Fiedler Audio Mastering Console for Dolby Atmos, a standalone version of their Dolby Atmos Composer. This console allows users to remaster Dolby Atmos master files without the need for a digital audio workstation that supports importing master files. The video demonstrates how to use the Mastering Console to add sidechain compression to a Dolby Atmos master file using the Gravitas dynamics processing module, which is currently the only available module in the console.

The process involves importing the master file, setting up the input configuration to use the kick drum as the detector signal for the sidechain compression, and applying the compression to the desired channels while leaving the kick and keys unaffected. The video also covers exporting the remastered master file and comparing it to the original in the Dolby Atmos Renderer. This new tool from Fiedler Audio is expected to be extremely useful for music producers working with Dolby Atmos, as it allows for easy remastering of existing master files without changing the positioning of the objects.
