Two New Ways of Rendering Apple Spatial Binaural Audio

In this video, I explore the latest developments in using Apple Spatial Binaural Rendering for Dolby Atmos production workflows. First, I dive into the new version of Studio One, which now offers native support for Apple Spatial Binaural Rendering. I demonstrate how to set up a Dolby Atmos project in Studio One, enable Apple Spatial Audio, and utilize head tracking for an immersive 3D audio experience. I also discuss the advantages and minor drawbacks of using Apple's solution, such as the convenience of the implementation in Studio One and the need to use AirPods Pro or AirPods Max.

Next, I showcase the updated Audiomover's Binaural Rendering plugin, which now includes a standalone mode. This allows users to utilize Apple Spatial Binaural Rendering with the Fiedler Audio Dolby Atmos Composer in any digital audio workstation. As an example, I walk through the process of setting up a Dolby Atmos project in Ableton Live, using the Dolby Atmos Composer and the standalone Binaural Renderer from Audiomovers. I demonstrate how to route audio, enable head tracking, and achieve a fully immersive 3D environment, even in a DAW like Ableton Live. Finally, I conclude by reiterating the effectiveness of Apple's Spatial Binaural Rendering and its ability to provide a convenient headphone-based production environment for Dolby Atmos, despite minor limitations.
