Virtuoso 2: The Swiss Army Knife for Binaural Audio Got an Update

In this bonus video, I share the latest updates to APL's Virtuoso, now in version 2. As many of you know, Virtuoso has been one of our favorite binaural rendering plugins, and this new release brings some unexpected and interesting features. I'll walk you through the key updates, including two new HRTFs, enhanced head tracking capabilities (including native support for Audeze Maxwell headphones), a customizable 10-band EQ, and improved 3D navigation within the plugin interface. These additions further cement Virtuoso's position as a top-tier binaural rendering solution.

Perhaps the most intriguing new feature, however, is found in the standalone version of Virtuoso 2. It now includes a player for ADM files, allowing direct playback of Dolby Atmos master files. What's particularly fascinating is the two-step decoding process, which first converts the Atmos file to a selected speaker layout before rendering it to binaural. This opens up the possibility of monitoring different speaker layouts binaurally without physically having those setups. While I'm not entirely sure about all the potential use cases, I'm very curious to hear your thoughts on how this feature might be beneficial in your workflows.
